I'm taking the plunge
It’s important to start.
I don’t know where this will lead to, but think there’s value in pursuing all the questions that come to mind as current events and life happens. I’ve got something in mind at the moment that I want to write about before I lose the inspiration, so I’ll follow the substack prompts to get the basics covered:
1. Why this, why now
From time to time, I have a thought to follow through on, or questions to ask, and I’m not sure where to post them. I started by using LinkedIn articles, but quickly realized that not every topic that is important belongs on LinkedIn. So, I paused it for a while, and kept my thoughts on my GDrive, until the universe sent me a few pokes in a row that Substack is a resource that I could use. Therefore, I am here, asking questions through reasoned research and empirical experience, or exploring potential life events through short stories. Thanks for joining me on the journey.
2. What kind of community are you looking to build here
I’m not hoping to lead an army of thinkers or anything, but would love if my posts can be used as part of a constructive dialogue to answering questions that come up in life, or even to help us make sense of the noise around us.
3. Be specific
This is the prompt: Readers love clarity. Be clear when you explain what they should expect: how often will you be posting? Can they expect certain posts on specific days? What will the free subscribers get? What does a paid subscription buy them? (You can list these benefits in bullets.)
My response: I have no idea. But I hope you subscribe anyway and I’ll post at least once per month. For those who support, I am so grateful!
4. Sections in this substack
So far, I’ve divided this substack into a couple main sections, and will add more as needed:
She Has Questions - I have questions about things that come up in media, culture, and politics. I’ll write about them here. The purpose is to understand what exactly is happening, whether or not it’s good or bad, the causes and effects, etc.
GratitudeShorts - I have an account on Instagram that you can follow: @GratitudeShorts. Here I post little things that I’m grateful for, and might included longer versions of the shorts on this area of my substack.
